My husband Nick and I have been invited to an End of the World Party.
The theme of the party is ‘Party like there is No To-Mayan’.
My first thought was to go all out and buy a new dress, shoes and fun accessories. Then I thought “Wait a minute, if there is no tomorrow why would I spend a bunch a money on clothes?” So I started looking at the stuff I own already and came across a dress I haven’t worn in over twenty years.
When I was 18 years old, I bought a fun cocktail dress that felt like it was made just for me. It has a skin tight, black, sleeveless bodice with a ruffled skirt adored with little silk ribbons in rainbow colors. It look similar to the dress pictured here, just image it with ruffles on the bottom. At the time, I ended up spending a whole months salary on this designer dress and sadly only wore it once. The dress has been hanging in the back of my closet ever since.
I’m planning on wearing my gorgeous 5 inch glittery Gold Heels and gold accessories. I bought a fun gold clutch with multi-colored dangling beads on a trip to Las Vegas several years ago. It will be perfect for this evening!
Now I realize my figure has changed over the past twenty years, but you know what? I don’t care! I will wear my 80’s designer dress with pride, if I remember I’ll suck in my gut and if I don’t hey, it’s the end of the world as we know it, right?
Are you planning on attending an End of the World Party? Here’s a picture of myself wearing the dress and shoes after the party.
Be honest guys and gals, what do you think of my party outfit and glittery gold heels? Did I pull it off or is it time to hang it up for good? Leave me a comment below.
