I was lucky to be able to go to a seminar in Chicago with my husband and my boss.
During the networking breakfast on the second day I was seated next to a commercial photographer. After introductions she asks me: “What are the best shoes for Zumba?” I laughed a little nervously and replied: “I have no idea, but that is an excellent questions and after doing some research I will get back to you.”
Here are my finding on Zumba Dance Shoes:
A typical Zumba class is between 45 minutes to one hour of high intensity, interval training with lots of side to side and front to back movements. Zumba is one of the hottest dances out there right now, with both men and women all over the world having fun and loosing weight, dancing to tantalising Latin music.
When choosing the proper Zumba dance shoes make sure that they provide you with plenty of shock absorption. This will help avoid blisters and injury. It is not adviseable to wear regular gym shoes to a Zumba dance class. Since these types of shoes have a lot of traction and end up sticking to the floor.
I learned the following from the Zumba fitness website.
The type of shoe for Zumba is key for easy-flowing movement. Wear good supportive shoes such as cross-trainers, or dance-specific sneakers. Wear shoes that do not have a lot of tread at the bottom and are meant for medial/lateral/twisting motion.
